Alabama is one of only a handful of states with a complete kratom ban. In 2016 the legislature placed kratom's alkaloids mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine on the state's Schedule I list, making sale, possession, and use illegal from Birmingham to Mobile with no exempt county.
